Amid protest from Kargil, tableau of Ladakh displayed at Republic Day parade
New Delhi, Jan 26: Amid protest from multiple organizations from Kargil, the tableau of Ladakh was displayed at India’s Republic Day parade in New Delhi today.
Pertinently, multiple organizations from Kargil had protested alleging that only features from Leh were displayed in the tableau.
This is the first time after the abrogation of 370 and bifurcation of erstwhile State into Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, that any tableau from Ladakh was displayed at Republic Day parade.
An official from Ladakh told KNT that this tableau represents the ‘bright’ future and development of Ladakh in terms of its natural resources and tourism potential. He said it also represents composite culture, peace and amity.
The official said that the Indian Astronomical Observatory located in Hanle Leh was also featured in the tableau.
A lesser known organization, Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharya Kargil Ladakh had yesterday issued a statement stating that in wake of protest against the undemocratic treatment and selective representation by ignoring Muslim Community of Ladakh and entire Kargil district with no mention of their respective identities through Tableau presentation during Republic Day Parade in New Delhi, the organization has decided to celebrate the Republic Day in their own level.
