Action against Doctors:
Staffers at Trauma Hospital observe 2 hours strike

Baramulla, Jan 11 : Doctors and Para-medical staff Monday went for 2 hours strike for the action taken against ten employees at Trauma Hospital Pattan here in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district who were found absent on Saturday.

Pertinently, Sub-District Magistrate had made a surprise visit to Trauma Hospital Pattan town and had found at least ten staffers including DAK president absent from the duty on Saturday.

Among those who were found absent were President of one of the factions of Doctors Association Kashmir Dr Suhail Nayak, Dr Asim Rather (USG) Dr Zeeza (Dentist), Dr Mehmooda (Dentist), Dr Arshid Hussain (Physician) and others.

During the inspection SDM Pattan had also found NRHM, Dental, RNTCP, USG Sections locked.

SDM Pattan Syed Faheem had asked Block Medical Officer to withhold the salaries of these employees and had even recommended that they should be suspended.

Against this decision, the staffers today Trauma Hospital observed 2 hours strike and staged a peaceful protest.

Sources told KNT that patients faced a lot of inconvenience as protesting staffers declined to attend them during strike hours.

Doctors at Sub-District Hospital Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district also created problems for patients and attendants when they went for 2 hours strike against Deputy Commissioner Anantnag’s decision to seek disciplinary action against those doctors who were found absent at Maternity and Child Care Hospital Anantnag.
